Are you searching for free eBooks for kids? The team at AmEnglish has you covered with adaptive assessments, vocabulary support, and so much more! Through the end of the 2020-21 school year, their distance learning resources are completely free for teachers and schools. In this blog post, I’ll share all of the details so you can grab these free resources.
In December of last year, I connected with the team at AmEnglish. During a break at the IMPACT Education conference in Minneapolis, I had a chance to see their platform in action on the Expo Hall floor. They have a dynamic set of resources for students that I’m certainly excited to share with you in this blog post.
Free Access to Distance Learning Content
AmEnglish provides students and teachers with access to interactive programs, including read aloud eBooks. There are also adaptive assessments for each book covering K-6 content. Their programs were designed with distance learning in mind and cover multiple grade levels.
The programs work on all devices, including smartphones, tablets, Chromebooks, Laptops, and computers. Students can access the content on any device and even sign in and out of different devices if they share multiple ones at home. It includes student activity tracking, so teachers can monitor student progress and give feedback as needed.
Free eBooks for Kids
Two new interactive programs from AmEnglish introduce STEM concepts to students. They use a unique combination of poetry and natural science facts to share high-interest reading material.
How does it work? Students can access over two dozen titles that each feature a poem about the animal and its environment. The words light up as they are read aloud to students. After students finish each passage, there are adaptive assessment questions, too. It covers topics like rhymes, syllables, stress in words, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
Building Student Vocabulary
In addition to the new STEM-focused ebooks, there is also a vocabulary builder for students. These are for middle school students, and each volume features different animals. They explore the relationship between each animal and its environment with a combination of nonfiction text and poetry. This resource features hundreds of vocabulary words in each volume and uses targeted vocabulary in context.
English Language Learning Resources
In addition to the ebooks and vocabulary support described above, AmEnglish has resources for English Language Learners (ELL). Designed with middle and high school students in mind, this content focuses on speaking, listening, and writing skills.
What will you find in their ELL resources?
- Speaking: pronunciation support, video and audio lessons, and text translation
- Listening: idioms, audio support, and listening practice
- Writing: grammar, syntax, comprehension checks, and more
I can’t wait for you to check out these resources from AmEnglish. As I mentioned at the top of the post, you can access these for free through June 2021.
